Taken from Second Saturday Website:
“Every month, art galleries in the Sacramento metro area stay open late and invite the public to the Second Saturday Art Walk. People from near and far come to walk from gallery to gallery, enjoying the latest and best of the region’s vibrant art scene. There is live music, and an immense variety of art and activities behind every door.”
A good friend of mine is a manager at the local Quicksilver Surf Shop and they run a little event every Second Saturday. Quicksilver wanted to bring in a photographer to capture the feel and vibe of their own gallery downtown and I was brought in to make that happen (just one of the many professional services here at Sibling Systems).
I was in the store last weekend to say hi to my friend/client and saw they had posted a bunch of the photographs on their wall and were showing off the art and all the fun we had during the shoot, so I thought I’d share it.
See you out there, next Second Saturday?

We do a bit of this, here at Sibsys: Web Design. When I was hired, they got me a new Adobe CS Suite which was a full upgrade from what I was using while freelancing. And right away I was pulled in on a few web projects where I was hand coding full pages of HTML, PHP and CSS. Pretty great, actually, doing what you’re hired to do! But every single time, with out fail (even while running mamp and a local dev server) Dreamweaver would jack up the design. Never-not-once did it ever display my information properly when I would hit split or design mode. This is obviously scary for many reasons. New guy, comes in, codes some stuff, then he goes to check his work and everything’s disjointed and all that work is gone! Ok so its never that bad but still, you get what I’m saying. Also, I was noticing the handling of the actual code by Dreamweaver was a little “wonky”, as Steve would say. And then there was about 1,000 functions I never use or even know how to use.
So I was at http://macrabbit.com/ checking out some update notes on my favorite CSS editor and something caught my eye. A rad little icon of a coffee cup. I clicked it and then BAM! It was love at first click. Made by the same people that make my CSSEdit. Works the same, only for coding! Its light weight, the preview click is accurate, and I now rock the two applications side by side! This, is how it was meant to be.

I highly suggest, if you are serious about your code and a simple and clean work-flow, check out everything MacRabbit has to offer and if you see them around, tell them they owe me some advertising compensation! But seriously, check these apps out. You’ll be glad you did!

So I’m extremely excited! Amazon got one of my books to me today. Its all about “Google Advertising Tools”. The main draw for this book is the SEO centered theme. It also has a pretty intense explanation of the PageRank algorithm, which will be huge, to finally understand. All part of getting our Google certification as we start to professionally offer SEO (Search Engine Optimization) as a service here at Sibling Systems!

I was feeling a little sentimental over the weekend and thought about days long past when I used to race home from school to catch the latest episode of Thundercats. So I decided to do my own version of the main hero from the show – “Lion-o”. (I think that’s how they spelled it?!) Check out a larger version of the image here.

I recently designed and created this paper toy proof-of-concept for one of our clients.
I had fun breaking out the paper, scissors, x-acto, etc. to bring this little guy to life! It feels good to make something with one’s hands every once in a while… that being said, I could never give up the “undo button” or messy-less work-flow that the computer provides!
See more from this project here.

As you can see from the grainy cell-phone photo above – we had a coyote walking around outside our office windows today. I’m always surprised at how small these guys are… they’re only about a meter in length and they probably weigh 40-50 lbs.
Just another day here on our LIVE version of Animal Planet!

Here’s another finger-painting I did on my iPad. This time around I actually set out to paint this scene. In the past I just put finger to pad and played around until something started to emerge. So, the iPad is becoming more and more of a tool for me and not just another toy.
